About the Mission:
The family of Richard L Anderson has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Richard, 80, of Stewart Ave., passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025.
Richard joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 on November 22, 1961. He was trained as a Disbursement Clerk (DK 1 SW) and served on active duty for over 24 years, retiring on May 31, 1986. He was stationed at various locations over the year, both on-shore and shipboard. His last duty assignment was aboard the USS Inchon (LPH12), an Iwo Jima-class amphibious assault ship. His active duty time included a tour of duty in Vietnam. He retired at the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class (E-6), and for his service was awarded a Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd award), Vietnam Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device.
Upon retiring from the Navy, Richard worked at small engine repair for overhead cranes, heavy equipment operator, worked at Finch Pruyn Paper as security, and the U.S. Post Office at Glens Falls National Bank for 10 years, where he eventually retired.
