About the Mission:
The family of Rudolph A. Mason has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Rudolph, 77, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady, NY.
Rudy graduated from Pottersville Central School in 1966 and enlisted in the US Navy on 9 January 1969. He was trained as an Aviation Electronics Technician and served on active duty for 3 years and 11 months, including 11 months of sea service aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Midway-class aircraft carrier, assigned to VF-84 (Fighter Squadron 84), nicknamed the Jolly Rogers. He was honorably discharged on 9 December 1972 at the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class (E-4) and a rating of AT3 (Aviation Electronics Technician). For his service, he was awarded a US Navy Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He received Sailor of the Month and Jolly Roger of the Month multiple times.
After his military service, Rudy was employed by General Electric in Fort Edward for almost 38 years. During his career there, he held various positions and retired in June of 2010.
