About the Mission:
The family of Robert F. Clements has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Robert, a long-time Clifton Park resident, age 92, died on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Saratoga Hospital.
Born on January 31, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, Bob was a graduate of Bishop Laughlin Memorial High School, Class of 1949, and the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. He joined the NROTC program and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1953. Following graduation, Bob served on active duty with the United States Navy from 1953 to 1956. He was the Assistant Navigator on the USS Baltimore (CA-68), a heavy cruiser, an Electronic Material Officer on the USS Kula Gulf (CVE-108), a Commencement Bay-class escort carrier, and was stationed at Bainbridge Naval Base.
After his honorable discharge in 1956, Bob relocated to Schenectady, NY. He earned his master’s degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute while working at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, where he grew his career over 35 years. Bob also continued his military service for three decades as an active US Navy Reservist in Naval Intelligence, eventually rising to be one of 17 Area Commanders in the U.S. until his retirement as a Captain in 1989.

Members will stand a flag line for the arrival of family and friends, then prepare to escort to St. Edwards the Confessor Church. After the service, members will escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for a 1:30 shelter service.
