About the Mission:

The family of Richard A. Mason has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services.  Richard, 86, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 13, 2025.

Richard graduated from Rush Henrietta High School in 1956.  He entered the United States Army on 2 October 1956 and was trained as a Field Radio Repairman (MOS 296.10).  He served for 2 years and 10 months on active duty, including 2 years and one month overseas, assigned to Headquarters Battery, V Corps Artillery, at Tompkins Barracks, Schwetzinger, Germany.  He was honorably discharged on 31 July 1959 at the rank of Specialist 5th Class (E-5), and for his service was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and a Motor Vehicle Badge w/Bar.

Following his service, Richard earned his associate degree from Adirondack Community College, and was the owner of Adirondack Installers & Maintenance Co. He had various other jobs throughout his life, including sales manager at Daggett’s Vending and sales associate at Toadflax Nursery. He was also the Ward 2 Supervisor for Warren County and the AHL Off-Ice Official for the Adirondack Red Wings.
