About the Mission:
The family of Raymond F. "Ray" Callanan has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Raymond, former supervisor of the Town of Ballston, age 89, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at home.
Born in Mechanicville, NY, Raymond received his early education at Saint Paul’s School and graduated from Mechanicville High School in 1953. He entered the US Army on 22 September 1955, and was trained as a Personnel Specialist (MOS 716.10). He spent 1 year, 11 months and 7 days on active duty, including 1 year and 4 months overseas assigned to the 19th Infantry Regiment, part of the 24th Infantry Division, in Korea. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 3rd Class and for his service, was awarded a Good Conduct Medal.
Ray later owned and operated Fannings Market and Lake Liquors in Ballston Lake for twenty-five years, until the stores were closed in 1996. Subsequently he was employed by the New York State Insurance Fund, retiring in 2008. While living in Mechanicville, Ray was a member of the J.L. Short Hook and Ladder Fire Company and one of the early members of the Ahern Rescue Squad. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army with honorable service in Korea.

We will stage with a flag line for arrival of family and friends. Church services are scheduled for 11:00 am, followed by a dignified transfer and escort to Saratoga National Cemetery. For a 1:30 service.
