About the Mission:
The family of Paul A. Schell has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Mr. Schell, 93, passed on Monday, January 13, 2025.
Born in Albany, NY, Paul enlisted in the US Navy on 6 March 1950. He was trained as a Builder and served as a Seabee assigned to Construction Battalion Mobile Unit 1 (CBMU-1). He served on active duty for just over 5 years and 10 months, with 2 years and 7 months of foreign service which included a tour of duty in South Korea during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged with a rating of Builder 2 and rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. For his service, he was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Ribbon and Korea Service Medal.

Special Information:
Staging at the funeral home with a flag line during the last hour of Visitation, 09:00 - 10:00 am. Following Visitation, members will escort to Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12206 for 10:00 am services. Escort to Our Lady of Angels Cemetery to follow for interment with military honors.
Weather forecast is calling for single digit temps in the morning, with wind chills below zero. We will stand inside at the funeral home, but outdoors for the rest of the mission. Please dress accordingly.
