About the Mission:
The family of Lawrence R. "Rich" Hickey has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Rich, 76, passed peacefully on October 13, 2025.
Born in Saratoga Springs, NY, Rich enlisted in the US Air Force on 22 March 1968. He was trained as a Vehicle Operator (AFSC 60350) and served for 4 years on active duty. His time included a one year tour of duty in Vietnam and Thailand. He was honorably discharged on 21 March 1972 at the rank of Sergeant (E-4), and for his service, was awarded; a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/1960 Device.
Rich was a skilled carpenter who worked with custom home builders as well as running his own successful remodeling business based in Clifton Park. His family home held a special place in his heart, and he personally completed all the improvements, updates, and additions over the 35 years he lived there.
Rich was a proud member of Patriot Guard Riders of New York. He stood many hours honoring fellow veterans at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, and will be sorely missed by his PGR brothers and sisters who knew and stood with him. For members who wish to pay their respects, visitation hours are being held from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, 23 October 2025. A link to Rich's obituary follows:
