About the Mission:

The family of John Thure Leonard Rundberg has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. John, 90, passed on Thursday, 31 July, 2025.

There is no obituary available for John at this time, so not much is known of his life or military service. We do know that he served in the United States Army for a total of 15 years and 8 months, enlisting on 28 June 1955. He was trained as a Turret Artillery Repairman (MOS 424.10) and over his years of service, served as a Track Vehicle Mechanic and General Vehicle Repairman. His active duty time included 4 years and 10 months of overseas duty in Germany, as well as a one year tour of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5) and for his service, was awarded; Good Conduct Medal (2 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm Device, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/1960 Device, Expert Badge - Rifle (M-14 & M-16) and a Marksman Badge - Pistol (.45 Pistol).
