About the Mission:

The family of Jeffrey J. Conlin has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Jeffrey, 79, passed away peacefully at his home on January 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Albany, NY, Jeff was a life-long resident of the Town of Schodack, graduating from Schodack Central High School. On 28 December 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was trained as a Firefighter (MOS 51M40). He served for 2 years, 11 months and 19 days on active duty, including an 11 month and 23 day tour of duty in An Khe, Vietnam. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant (T), (E-5) on 16 December 1968 at Fort Gordon, GA and completed his inactive reserve obligation on 27 December 1971. For his service, he was awarded; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/1960 Device, 2 Overseas Bars, and an Expert Badge (Rifle).

Upon his return from the army, Jeff worked with friends and family doing small contracting jobs. He became the owner of the village hardware store and then soon established his own electrical and small repair business. At that time, he was the Building Inspector for the Village of Castleton. In 1986, he was appointed by the Town of Schodack as the Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer. Additionally, he served as the Building Inspector for the Village of Nassau. Lastly, he worked for the Department of Veteran's Affairs, doing inspections for veterans who were having their homes transformed to accommodate special needs. He retired in 2010, but continued his work for the Department of Veterans Affairs. He was a life-long member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, a member of the Schodack Republican Club and served as Commissioner of the South Schodack Fire Company.

Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. Visitation is from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, but PGR will stand only for the last 2 hours. Due to the forecast bitter temps, we will be standing indoors.

Second Stage - Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the dignified transfer. Members will join the escort to Horizon View Cemetery, 1375 Brookview Station Road, Town of Schodack for interment with military honors. Temps are again forecast in the single digits. Please dress accordingly.
