About the Mission:

The family of George Louis Yager has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. George, 98, passed just a day shy of his 99th birthday on January 19, 2026, at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, NY.

Born in Schenectady, NY, on January 20, 1927, George graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1945. He had enlisted in the US Army Air Forces Reserve during WW II, on 18 February 1944, prior to his high school graduation. He was called to active duty on 9 June 1945 and was trained as a Portable Oxygen Generator Operator (MOS 719). Assigned to Squadron K-1, 3502nd Army Air Forces Base Unit, he served just over 1 year and 5 months on active duty at Chanute Field, Illinois. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant on 9 June 1945, and for his service, was awarded; Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal and a Lapel Pin (Ruptured Duck).

George went on to study at Syracuse University and Russell Sage College, and was employed by General Electric. After his retirement in 1987 as an Instrumentation Specialist, George continued to impart his expertise as a volunteer and board member of the Empire State Aerosciences Museum for over thirty years.

Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. An 11:00 am funeral service is scheduled, followed by a dignified transfer and escort to Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 2150 Central Ave., Schenectady, NY 12304 for interment with military honors.
