About the Mission:

The family of Emerson J. VanPatten III has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Emerson, 75, passed on November 6, 2024 after a long illness at Kindred Hospital East, in New Jersey.

Born in Albany, NY, Jay was a graduate of the Guilderland High School, class of 1966. He, enlisted in the US Army, serving from August 1967 to May 1970, and spent 16 months with the United States Army Pacific in Korea.

Jay was a long time, very respected, and well-liked employee of the NY State Department of Taxation and Finance, where he retired in 2002. He steadily advanced during his state service and retired as Program Director of the Regional Processing Center and IFTA E-filing project.
