About the Mission:
The family of US Coast Guard World War II Veteran Allen P. Ruliffson, Jr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in celebrating his 100th birthday.
Mr. Ruliffson served our nation in the US Coast Guard Active Reserve from February 1943 - December 1945. Following completion of Quartermaster School and attaining the rating of Seaman 1st Class (Quartermaster), Mr. Ruliffson served in many capacities on multiple vessels and at many duty stations. He led Navy vessels from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan breaking ice allowing access to ships to the Mississippi River, guarding locks, and clearing boats into the US. His duty stations included Buffalo, Staten island, Manhattan Beach, Chambers Station and Freeport in NYS. Other duty stations included Cleveland Harbor and Lorain, Ohio and the Coast Guard Yard in Curtis Bay, Maryland. His vessels included the USCG Cutters Chaparral and Mendota. He was enroute to Panama Canal when WW II was declared over. For his service to our nation, S1c (QM) Ruliffson earned the American Area Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal, WW II Honorable Discharge Button, Honorable Service Lapel Button and Honorable Service Emblem.

Special Information:
Patriot Guard Riders will provide an honorable flag line for arrival of USCG Veteran Ruliffson, his proud family and friends. Mr. Ruliffson is expected to arrive at approx. 1:45.
At 2:00 PM PGR will enter the Community Center to sing happy birthday to commemorate Mr. Ruliffson's 100th birthday. The Mission will end at that point, but members are welcome to stay and enjoy some refreshments.
Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Coast Guard flag, and dress for the weather. Thank you for taking time to help celebrate WW II Veteran Allen P. Ruliffson's 100th birthday.
