About the Mission:

The family of Vietnam War Veteran William J. Frieday has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Mr. Frieday passed on 27 October 2025 at Buffalo V.A Medical Center at the age of 78.

After graduating from Batavia High School, Mr. Frieday entered the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War on 30 June 1965. He was sent to Vietnam trained as a Motor Vehicle Operator, serving 3 tours of duty with the 3rd Motor Transport Battalion, 3rd Marine Division in Quang Tri, South Vietnam. He was honorably discharged at Marine Barracks, Naval Station, Treasure Island, San Francisco, California on 26 June 1969. For his service, he was awarded; Navy Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/1960 Device and a Rifle Marksman Badge.

After his military service, Mr. Frieday became a member of the Batavia, NY V.F.W. Post# 1602, American Legion Post #332, and a member of Genesee County Joint Honor Guard. He was also a Western New York National Cemetery Honor Guard.

Members will stage at the funeral home (behind Denny's Restaurant) . As soon as family has arrived, we will escort the family and their hero to WNYNC for honors at 11am. Dress for the weather.
