About the Mission:

The family of Vietnam Veteran Michael J. Flowers has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Mr. Flowers passed on15 January 2026, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Flowers entered the US Army on 28 November 1969 and trained as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic (MOS-63B20) at Fort Dix, NJ. He served his nation with 25 months of dedicated service, including a 19 month tour of duty in Vietnam assigned to the 509th ARB Infantry Regiment, Light Truck Engineers. Mr. Flowers was honorably discharged on 23 December 1971 at Army Personnel Center, Oakland, California. For his service, he was awarded, Bronze Star Medal, Army Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 2 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/ Palm and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 1960 Device.

After Mr. Flowers' military service, he continued to serve, protecting his home town of Buffalo, NY as a Police Officer and retiring as a Lieutenant.
