About the Mission:

The family of Leslie "Les" R. Furman has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in honoring his life and service. Les Furman of West Seneca, NY passed away on 2 February 2026. He was among the founding members of PGRNY.

Les served our nation on active duty in the US Marine Corps for 3 years from 1960-1963, and completed his reserve obligation in 1966. His primary MOS was 2533-Radio Telegraph Operator, and his duty assignments included Communication Company, 7th Communication Battalion, 1st Marine Division (Rein.), Fleet Marine Force, Camp Pendleton, CA. Les received his honorable discharge from active duty on 14 November 1963 with the rank of Corporal (E-4), and he earned the National Defense Service Medal and Cold War Service Commemorative Medal.

Quoting from the Sieck, Mast & Leslie Funeral Home obituary: "Les was an Eagle Scout from Troop 528, a Town of Evans Police Officer, Coordinator of the Erie County Civil Defense Program, Chief of the Town of Evans Auxiliary Police Department, founding member of the Patriot Guard Riders, 37 year member of Post 735 American Legion, member of the Niagara Frontier Department of Marine Corp League, member of the Disaster Response Team for the American Red Cross and volunteered for Toys4Tots."

PGR will stand a respectful flag line during the 2nd half of visitation hours from 5:00-7:00 PM.  Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or USMC flag, and dress for the expected frigid weather.
The son of Les Furman - Roger - is also a USMC veteran and PGRNY member. Thank you for devoting your time to honor the US Marine Corps, Law Enforcement and Patriot Guard Riders service of Leslie "Les" R. Furman, and to support his proud and loving family.
