About the Mission:
Edward "Ed" C. Swartzenberg, Sr.'s family has invited Patriot Guard Riders to participate in honoring his service and celebrating his life. Mr. Swartzenberg passed away February 9, 2025 at the age of 85.
Ed served in the US Marine Corps for four years, 1959-63, during the Cold War. Ed's MOS was 3516, Automotive Mechanic, and he served at Camp Lejeune, NC, and US Naval Base Norfolk, VA. He achieved the rank of Lance Corporal and was honorably discharged April 5, 1963. Lance Corporal Swartzenberg earned: Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Parking will be in the back lot of the Chili American Legion. Map of the location is at this link: Click here
PGR members will form a flag line for the arrival of the family and Mr. Swartzenberg's cremains at the gravesite in the cemetery just east of the American Legion parking lot. We will form the flag line at approximately 10:15 a.m. in anticipation of the family arriving between 10:30 and 10:45am.
PGR members will hold the flag line through the services, expected to begin at 11:00am. Military honors have already been rendered, there will be a short service, and we will present a PGRNY plaque. Following the services, PGR members will render a final salute as a group.
Please be prepared with a clean 3'x5' American or US Marine Corps flag, dress for the weather. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the US Marine Corps service of Edward "Ed" C. Swartzenberg, and to support his loving family.
