About the Mission:
The French Embassy will award the French Legion of Honor Medal to US Army WW II Veteran, Frank Agoglia. Mr. Agoglia was a Private in the Infantry, Airborne Division when he was involved in the D-Day invasion at Normandy. He landed his glider in Ste. Mere Eglise, France, behind German defenses, and worked 72 hours straight as an air traffic controller during the Normandy invasion. He also served in the Rhineland. For his service, Mr. Agoglia was awarded a Purple Heart and European-African-Middle East Medal w/ 2 Bronze Stars.
In 1947, Mr. Agoglia joined the NY Police Department and was assigned to the 79th Precinct. He retired 33 years later as a First Grade Detective.
Patriot Guard Riders has been requested to stand and honor Private Frank Agoglia for his outstanding actions during D-Day.
