About the Mission:
Walter F. Geary faithfully and honorably executed his duties to our nation in the US Marine Corps as Rifleman (0311) and then in the New York Army National Guard. He enlisted on 23 November 1968, served 1 year, 10 months, and 3 days in-country, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal on 5 September 1972. For his service with Co E, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Letter of Appreciation, and the Good Conduct Medal.
He completed his Reserve obligation on 4 September 1974.
His family requests Patriot Guard Riders' participation for his final honors.
He was well-known in the veterans' community, serving as a member of the VWVA Honor Guard for many years. He was a friend to many.
Walter Geary was also a Detective with NYPD, mostly in Brooklyn.

Mass begins 9:45 am at Church of St. Christopher, 11 Gale Avenue, Baldwin, across the street.
Dignified transfer and escort to Calverton National Cemetery to follow mass.
