About the Mission:

This veteran faithfully executed his duties to this country from January 1963 to January 1967. He served aboard the USS Noa (DD 841), a Gering-class destroyer with three years and 5 months of sea service. He attained the rank of CS3 which is a Culinary Specialist putting him in charge of everything to do with supplying and feeding the ship galley for crew and officers. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

Upon leaving service he was self-employed as a blacksmith/horse shoer. Among his many clients were the carriage horses in NY City and the Ringling Brothers Circus, which had 50 horses he would shoe every time they came to New York.He was also a volunteer with the Yaphank, Long Island Fire Department and also drove the ambulance. The family has asked Patriot Guard Riders to stand and honor him.

Special Information:

Please have your flags for a dignified transfer after prayer service at 11am. Family arrival is 10:30am. Also be prepared for inclement weather. I have known this man for many years and am proud to stand for him. Escort will proceed to Northport Rural Cemetery. The Yaphank Fire Dept. will be involved as he will be transported on a fire truck.

Second Stage - Special Information:

It is not a large cemetery, so members should be able to locate gravesite easily and park nearby to not block escort, especially the fire truck.
