About the Mission:

The family of George Lipponer has requested the Patriot Guard Riders participation at his final military services.

In 1950, at the age of 18, George entered the United States Marines Corps and served his country for four years. He was a Sergeant when he was discharged in 1954. Mr. Lipponer served in the Korean War and participated in three battles/campaigns:

- Assault and seizure of Inchon
- Capture and securing of Seoul
- Wonsan-Hungnam-Chosin Campaign, Northern Korea

George was the recipient of six medals/citations, including a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in Korea. He was a survivor of the brutal 17-day epic Battle of Chosin Reservoir, one of the most notorious and devastating campaigns of the Korean War. He is a member of the Chosin Few (Also known as the Chosen Frozen for having fought in hand-to-hand combat in sub-zero conditions). This Marine organization has bound a select group as “one for life in a fraternity of honor.”

In addition to receiving the Purple Heart, George was awarded the following commendations-Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal.

George was a general contractor and an accomplished author; he wrote six books, including The End of Forever and My Time in the Marine Corps. Mr. Lipponer was featured in James Brady’s book: Why Marines Fight (chapter 23) and described his experience in Korea as one that he “wouldn't trade for a million dollars.”

Please join in celebrating the life and service of this incredible American hero.
