About the Mission:
The family of Alexander Baktis has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his funeral services. Alexander, 78, of Valley Stream, NY (formerly of East New York, Brooklyn), passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30th.
Mr. Baktis was honorably discharged as SP4 on 1 July 1970 after serving with the United States Army, HH & SB, 2d Bn, 104th Arty. He served proudly as a Specialist in the Army National Guard until his Honorable Discharge on June 24th, 1971. He went on to serve the residents of New York City as a patrolman with the NYPD, keeping watch in the 9th Precinct (Manhattan) until his retirement in 1981. He then went on to run a successful business as a general contractor throughout Long Island and the New York City metro area for well over 20 years.
