About the Mission:

The family of William G. McNaughton has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services.  William G. "Bill" McNaughton, age 68, of Centereach, New York passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023.

Bill was born in Queens, New York. He always referred to himself as an "ordinary guy," but to the many that knew him, he was a man of honor and dignity. Whether he knew you for decades or just a short time, he would move mountains to help someone, no matter what it took. Genuine and humble, he never took credit for anything. Proud United States Army veteran and retired K-9 unit police officer with the New York City Police Department, Bill was also a Gold Star Father. On August 2, 2005 his son Jimmy, a US Army soldier and also an NYPD officer was killed by a sniper in Bagdad, Iraq. He was the first NYC Police Officer killed in Iraq.  Jimmy's funeral services were one of the first KIA Missions the PGRNY was called to do.

After retirement, Bill continued his service with the grounds crew at Calverton National Cemetery. When he did take time for himself, his main passion was cars. He loved going to car shows and races and working on his prized 1969 Chevy Chevelle. Other hobbies and interests included his koi pond, martial arts and samurai swords.

Portions of the above narrative are contained in Bill's obituary, available for viewing online by clicking here
