About the Mission:

Walter E. Malek faithfully and honorably executed his duties to our nation in the US Army, serving from 16 January 1969 until his honorable discharge at the rank of Sergeant on 15 January 1971, including 17 June 1969 - 15 June 1970 In-Country.
Sergeant Malek completed his reserve obligation on 15 January 1975.
For his service as Indirect Fire Infantryman (11C40) he was awarded the following: National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 device, 2 OS Bars, Bronze Star Medal w/V device, Air Medal, Expert on M-16, 106, 9MM, and .45 Cal Pistol.
