About the Mission:

To honor the life and service of Steven John Mason, Patriot Guard Riders has been requested by his family to participate in his services and military honors.

Steve, a Vietnam combat veteran, faithfully and honorably executed his duties to our nation as a U.S. Marine from May 15, 1968 until his honorable discharge on August 21, 1970. Steve served as a Rifleman (0311) and attained the rank of Lance Corporal (LCpl). For his service he earned the Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Star, RVN Cross of Gallantry w/ palm & frame, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device and Rifle Expert Badge. He completed his Reserve obligation on 20 December 1974.

Steve was an active member of the Elmont American Legion Riders Post 1033. As a proud Marine, he attended many veteran events wearing his dress uniform. He also participated in many PGR Honor missions riding motorcycle escorts regardless of the weather conditions. Please help us honor this true American hero.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

Members may attend afternoon visitation from 2pm - 5pm Monday 3/18. Elmont American Legion Riders will be conducting a brief Legion ceremony at 7:30pm. All PGR members are invited to participate standing with ALR during this ceremony.

Please form a flag line for arriving family and mourners for visitation starting at 10:00am. After dignified transfer, we will escort to St Charles Cemetery with an ETA no later then 11:30am
