About the Mission:

Mr. Murphy honorably served his country from January 1958 to January 1961. After basic training and schooling, his specialty was Offset Pressman attached to HqBn, 2d Marine Div FMF, Camp LeJune. He attained the rank of Corporal, being awarded the Good Conduct Medal and M1 Rifle 30 Cal Expert Badge. 

He became an N.Y. City Police officer, earning honors before becoming disabled in the line of duty. He was in the Knights of Columbus, volunteered with Boy Scouts, and was a coach to youths. The family has asked Patriot Guard Riders to stand and honor him for his service.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

Please bring flags for a dignified transfer. The escort will be to St. Patricks RC Church,  280 East Main, Smithtown, for a 9:45 mass. The escort will then continue to Calverton National Cemetery.

Please be at the front gate and see RC Mike Osip for instructions. There are three escorts coming in about 20 minutes of each other, Mike will assign members so that we may honor the three heroes.
