About the Mission:

This member of the "Greatest Generation" honorably served and defended this country from 1943 to 1945. He trained at Basic Engineering School which led him to serve on the USS Hermitage (AP-54), a Thomaston-class dock landing ship, USS Cabildo (LSD-16), a Casa Grande-class dock landing ship, and the USS Achernar (AKA-53), an Andromeda-class attack cargo ship. He attained the rating of Machinist Mate 3rd Class (MM3), and for his service was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Service Medal, European African Middle-East Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal, American Theatre Medal, and a WW II Victory Medal.

Upon leaving the service, he attended aviation school and went to work for Lockheed Aircraft at Idlewild Airport (now JFK). He later moved to Fairchild-Republic where he retired. He belonged to the Civil Air Patrol and maintained their aircraft. The family has requested Patriot Guard Riders to stand and honor him.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

Please have flags for a dignified transfer. We will escort to mass at St Philip Neri RC Church, Main St., Northport for 10am mass. After mass we will escort to Calverton National Cemetery.
