The family of Daniel Francis Laura has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his funeral services.  Daniel, 86, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023.

Known simply as Dan or Danny, he was born in Manhattan, NY and grew up in Flushing, Queens, NY. He graduated Forest Hills High School in 1954 and then went off to Fordham University in The Bronx, NY where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree in 1958.

Following college, Dan entered the United States Army on 30 July 1958. He served as a Clerk (MOS 710.00) assigned to the Service Detachment, 1st Battle Group, 1st Infantry at West Point Military Academy, where he received a Letter of Commendation and Appreciation for his dedication to duty.  He was promoted to Specialist 4th Class (SP4, E-4) on 1 May 1960 and released from active duty on 8 June.  He completed his US Army Reserve obligation and was honorably discharged on 30 June 1964.
