About the Mission:
Thomas J. Rizzo faithfully and honorably executed his duties to our nation in the US Army Air Forces in World War II.
Prior to his military service, he worked in civil service as a Propellor Specialist at the Rome Air Depot from August to December 1942. Inducted on 23 March 1943, he entered active service with the US Army Air Forces on 30 March 1943. He trained as an Airplane Mechanic and served as an Aviation Mechanic and Propellor Specialist, including time with the 8th US Army Air Forces in the European Theater of Operation servicing B-24 Liberator Bombers.
For his faithful service, he was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars (Ardennes and Central Europe,) and World War II Lapel Button. He was honorably discharged on 25 October 1945 at the rank of Private First Class.
Following his military service, Mr. Rizzo joined FDNY and continued to serve his community, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant after 20 years.

Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Please meet on the roadway just past the admin. building. We will move to the graveside to await the funeral cortege. Bring your clean 3'x5' US Flag for the flag line. Procession from Duffy Funeral Home is expected between 12:30 - 1:00 PM.
