About the Mission:

The family of Howard William Decker, Sr. has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in his funeral services. Howard served in the US Army from April 1969 to November 1971. He then served in the US Navy from November 1974 to January 1992 with 3 years of Sea Service as an Automatic Combustion Control Console Operator (MOS BT-4533). He was discharged with the rank of BT1, Boiler Technician Petty Officer 1st Class. Howard received these decorations/medals: Fourth Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal, Second Award; Southeast Asia Service Medal w/2 Bronze Stars; Purple Heart; Expert Rifle; Navy Unit Commendation; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Coast Guard Special Operations Service Ribbon; Army Commendation Medal; Navy Expeditionary Medal; Navy Achievement Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Stars; Navy Battle "E" Award; Vietnam Gallantry Cross; Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Bronze "Palm" Device; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon w/5 Bronze Stars; Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device; 3 Overseas Bars (Army).

Special Information:

Patriot Guard Riders will stand a flag line during arrival of the family. We will provide an escort to the Manning Cemetery, 841 Mountain Rd, Port Jervis. We will stand for the dignified transfer and Military Honors.

The funeral director stated that the cemetery road is gravel and has some washout.
