About the Mission:

The Leatherstocking Honor Flight team will be conducting their 2nd Purple Heart Initiative mission on Saturday, August 5, 2023, and have requested Patriot Guard Riders to participate.

Like their first mission last August, the team will be hosting a group of military veterans who are Purple Heart recipients on a day trip. The veterans will be treated to breakfast at the Hibernian Hall in Albany, followed by a trip to Washington's Headquarters and then to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor in New Windsor where Washington initiated the medal that later became the Purple Heart. Last year, the veterans were taken on a scenic boat ride on the Hudson River and followed that with an exciting tour of West Point Military Academy and then a great dinner at the famous and historic Thayer Hotel. The plan for this year is similar.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Updated 8 March 2022

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

Members will stage and form a flag line for the veterans entering the Hall for breakfast. We will stand between 07:30 - 08:00 am, then stand down. We will re-form the flag line as the honorees board the bus to begin their trip, and provide escort from the Hall, to I-87 South, Exit 22 (Selkirk), a total of about 9 miles. We will exit at Selkirk and re-group at the truck staging area at the exit.
