About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders has been invited to participate in the military honors funeral service of Mr. Thomas Edward Ruth. Mr. Ruth passed on Monday, February 5, 2024 at the age of 75.

Very little information is known about Mr. Ruth's life and military service. He did serve in the United States Navy between 1968 and 1970, including time aboard the USS America, (CVA/CV-66), a Kitty Hawk-class supercarrier, as a Fireman Apprentice on "Yankee Station" in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam. For his service, he was awarded an Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device.

After his military service, Mr. Ruth served with the Albany Fire Department.

There is no family to stand and honor Mr. Ruth, so Patriot Guard Riders will assume that role for these services. Pall bearers may be needed at the cemetery. Please assist, if you are able.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the dignified transfer. Estimated departure time is 10:00 am.
