About the Mission:
The family of Wilfredo "Fred" Vega has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Fred, 69, passed on December 1, 2022, at his home in Guilderland, NY.
Born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, Fred grew up in the Bronx, NY where he was a quarterback for the football team at DeWitt Clinton High School. He later served as a medic in the US Army between 1976 and 1979, earning an honorable discharge at the rank of Specialist 4th Class.
Fred furthered his medical career in civilian life as a sonographer. His last position was at Greenwich Radiology in Greenwich, CT. He retired in 2020 and moved to Guilderland, NY. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed biking and hiking as often as possible.
