About the Mission:

The family of Leslie J. Bernard has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Leslie, 82, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2023.

Born in Albany, NY, Leslie spent most of his life in the area. Following graduation from high school, on 15 February 1962, he enlisted in the US Navy. He spent 1 year and 10 months at sea aboard the USS Severn (AO-61), a Cimarron-class fleet oiler. He was honorably discharged on 31 January 1964 with a rating of Seaman (E-3).

Upon his return from the service, Leslie worked at Saint Peter’s Hospital. He later spent most of his career in insurance sales with John Hancock Insurance and later Woodman Life Insurance. He went on to work for the Internal Revenue Service as a Researcher before retiring.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the church with a flag line for the arrival of the funeral cortege. Funeral services scheduled for 10:30 am, followed by escort to and interment with military honors at St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
