About the Mission:
The family of John D. "Spike" Walsh has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. John, age 92, died peacefully on August 22, 2025, at the Eddy Village Green with his family by his side.
Born November 2, 1932, in Cohoes, New York, John attended Cohoes High School. Following his graduation, he entered the United States Army during the Korean War on 4 December 1952. He served 1 year and 11 months on active duty, including 10 months assigned to the 78th Engineering Field Maintenance Company in Yongdung-po, South Korea. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Private (PVT-2) on 3 November 1954, and for his service, was awarded; Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star and a United Nations Service Medal.
After his military service, John worked in various positions before joining General Electric Silicone Products in Waterford, NY, where he worked for 38 years.

Members will stand a flag line until Noon, when a short memorial service will take place. After the service, members will re-form the flag line for the dignified transfer, and then escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for a 2pm service.
