About the Mission:

The family of Douglas J. Murray has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in the visitation portion of his funeral services. Douglas, 55, passed unexpectedly on June 14, 2024, at his home in Watervliet, NY.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Douglas was a graduate of Richmond Hill High School in Queens, class of 1987. He entered the United States Army on 10 February 1988, and was trainied as a Medical Specialist (MOS 91A10). He served until his honorable discharge at the rank of Specialist (E-4) on 4 April 1991, including active duty in the Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm) and Germany. For his service, he was awarded an Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Marksmanship Badge (Rifle - M-16) and Marksmanship Badge - Grenade.

Shortly after his military service, Douglas relocated to the Albany, NY area and began a 25-year rewarding career working within various NYS Agencies with the most recent being the Office of Temporary & Disability Assistance (OTDA).

Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line during Visitation period, 5:00 - 6:00 pm. Military honors will be conducted at 5:30 pm, followed by PGR plaque presentation.  Interment will take place at a later date, at the family's convenience.
