About the Mission:
The family of William "Bill" Valentine Poli has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Bill, age 90, passed away on July 7, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born in Cincinnati, OH, and served in the Army National Guard starting in 1949 and then transferred to the United States Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate 3rd Class during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1954. Bill received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the College of St. Rose while simultaneously working at General Electric.
Following his military service, Bill began working with General Electric Co. in Cincinnati. He later moved to Charlton, NY where he continued his work with GE. He had a long career working in various positions as an Industrial Engineer in the Steam Turbine Dept. Bill also enjoyed teaching and mentoring at GE until his retirement in 1992. Bill didn’t let his retirement slow him down and continued working seasonally at Saratoga Spa Golf Course for 20 plus years as a Starter/Ranger.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
Staging is at the church with a flag line for the arrival of the funeral procession, family and guests. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 am, followed by an escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment with military honors.
