About the Mission:

The family of William R. Anderson, Jr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. William, 77, passed on 20 January, 2024.

Born in Danbury, Connecticut, Bill enlisted in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War on 28 April 1966. He was trained as an Aircraft Electrical Systems Technician (Specialty Code 6242), and served 4 years on active duty, including two tours of duty in Vietnam as a Door Gunner. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant (E-5) on 4 May 1970, and for his service, was awarded a Purple Heart Medal, Air Medal w/5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal (2 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/5 Bronze Service Stars and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/'60 Device.

Bill was an excellent marksman and a member of The Kalicoontie Rod and Gun Club. He participated in Project Appleseed events and taught others about the Revolutionary War and how to properly use rifles. He also belonged to the American Legion. Bill had a degree in electrical engineering and was a Pilot Mechanic at Sky Acres Airport.

Staging at the Park & Ride where we will meet the family and provide escort to Saratoga National Cemetery, approximately 45 miles. Anticipated KSU 09:30. We will be traveling at highway speeds, so please ensure that any flags are securely fastened.
