About the Mission:

The family of William Lawyer Furbeck has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. William, 75, passed on November 8, 2022.

Born in Schenectady, NY, William enlisted in the United States Army on 11 October 1966. He was trained as Power Unit Operator (MOS 52B20), and served almost 2 1/2 years on overseas assignment with the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany. He was released from active duty on 13 October 1969, and honorably discharged from inactive reserve service at the rank of Specialist 4th Class on 30 October 1972. For his service, William was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Expert Rifle Badge (M-14).

For years, William was a foundry worker at G.E., and retired as a crane operator. He was the owner/operator of his lawn business and ran it until his health forced him to give it up.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

Members will stage at the Market 32 parking lot with anticipated KSU of 11:00 am.  We will proceed to the Furbeck residence to escort the family approximately 3 miles to the Schenectady Memorial Park and Terrace Garden Mausoleum, 566 Giffords Church Rd., Schenectady, for interment with military honors.  Click here for map to cemetery
