About the Mission:
The family of William C. "Bill" Coe has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Bill, 92 of Cohoes, passed away at his residence on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
Born and educated in Baltimore, Md., Bill was a US Army Veteran, enlisting on 1 March 1948. He served in Task Force Smith in Korea during the war as a radio operator assigned to the Taro Leaf-24th Infantry Division. He was one of the first foot soldiers on the ground during the Battle of Osan. Due to a war-related one year involuntary extension of his enlistment, Bill was honorably discharged on 15 April 1952 at the rank of Private. For his service, he was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge, Distinguished Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Occupation Medal - Japan, Korean Service Medal and 1 Overseas Service Bar.
Bill loved collecting military memorabilia and he was one of the original founders of the Korean War Veterans Association (KWVA) in New York State. He returned to Korea three times to be honored by the South Korean Government. Bill was a Life member of The Korean War Veteran's Association, Life member of Taro Leaf-24th Division, a member of the 21st Infantry Regiment Task Force Smith, Life member of Veterans of Foreign War; Post 7411, The American Legion; Post 470, Life member of Disabled American Veterans.
