About the Mission:
The family of Thomas W. Killian has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Thomas W. "Bill" Killian, 92, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Troy, NY, Bill made a career of 20 years in the Navy between 1952 and 1971, serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was trained as a Shipfitter, and served aboard the USS Baltimore (CA-68), a heavy cruiser, the USS Lowe (DE-325), an Edsall-class destroyer escort, the USS Sierra (AD-18), a Dixie-class destroyer tender, and the USS Jason (AR-8), a Vulcan-class repair ship. He was honorably retired at the rating of Shipfitter First Class (E-6) on 2 September 1971, and for his service, was awarded the Good Conduct Award (Fifth Award), National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Stars.
After retirement from the service, Bill continued as a fitter and welder with McKinney Steel Fabrications in Albany. He enjoyed traveling, camping and going on cruises with his family.

Special Information:
Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the dignified transfer, followed by escort to Eagle Mills Cemetery, 550 Garfield Road, Troy, NY 12180, for interment with military honors.
