About the Mission:
The family of Thomas A. "Tom" Kergel has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Tom, 78, passed away peacefully after a short illness on July 18, 2024, in Albany, New York.
Born in Schenectady, New York, Tom graduated from Linton High School in 1963 and briefly attended Iowa College. He answered the call of duty to serve his country in the United States Army in 1967 during the Vietnam War, and went on to serve in the Army National Guard where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6).
After his honorable discharge, Tom joined the General Electric Apprentice Program, where he committed 33 years of dedicated service. He also lent his skills as a machinist to Alco Locomotives in his hometown of Schenectady, contributing to the craftsmanship that powered America.

Special Information:
Staging at the church with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. Funeral cortege expected at 10:15 am, with services scheduled for 11:00 am. Escort to Park View Cemetery, 40 Fehr Ave, Schenectady, NY 12309 will follow church services. Interment with military honors scheduled for 12:30 pm.
