About the Mission:

The family of Robert P. Sleasman has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Robert, 76, passed away Wednesday, June 7th, 2023, at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Born and raised in Albany, Bob enlisted in the US Navy on 14 November 1967 after graduating from high school. He was trained as an Aviation Machinist Mate (Specialty Number ADJ-6410) and served with the RVAH-9 Reconnaissance Attack (Heavy) Squadron at the Naval Air Station in Albany, Georgia. He was released from active duty on 7 May 1970, and honorably discharged at the rating of Airman (E-3) after completion of his reserve duty on 13 November 1973. For his service, Bob was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

After returning to Albany, NY, Bob worked alongside his father and uncles, at the Modern Food Market on New Scotland Avenue, and more recently at University Wine and Liquor on Western Avenue. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by McVeigh Funeral Home.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

Staging at the church for the arrival of family and guests. Visitation will be held Monday evening at the church, so there will be no procession. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am. Following services, members will escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment will military honors.
