About the Mission:
The family of Robert J. Sweeney has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Robert, 77 died Friday April 12, 2024 at his home on Friends Lake.
Born in New York City, Bob served in the US Army from 9 March 1966, until his honorable discharge at the rank of Specialist 4th Class on 21 March 1968. He was trained as a Field Artilleryman (MOS 13A10), and spent a year and a half stationed in Germany. For his service, he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
After his military service, he became a member of the Lathers Union in New York City, and was the proprietor of the Squeeze Inn in Riverdale, NY. He worked as a security guard for Glens Falls Hospital and spent 17 winters working in the ticket sales booth at Gore Mountain.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.
Special Information:
We will stage for a dignified transfer, and then escort to St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church for a 10:00 am Mass of Christan burial. Following the church services, members will stand for dignified transfer and then escort to Chestertown Rural Cemetery.
