About the Mission:

The family of Robert J. "Greenie" Green has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Bob, 75, passed away suddenly on Saturday, 14 September 2024.

Born in Troy, NY, Bob graduated from Columbia High School, Class of 1967. He enlisted in the US Army during the Vietnam War, on 14 January 1968, and served as a Welder (MOS 44C20) for almost 3 years, including a 1 year tour of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on 11 June 1971 at the rank of Specialist 5th Class (E-5), and for his service, was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Overseas Service Bars, Sharpshooter Badge (M-14 Rifle) and Expert Badge (M-16 Rifle).

After his military service, Bob went on to obtain welding certifications from both Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland and Hudson Valley Community College. For nearly 20 years, he worked at the Watervliet Arsenal, retiring in 2002. He also worked at McKinney Steel and Troy Sand & Gravel.

Bob's love for our country ran deep.  He supported fellow veterans by participating in motorcycle charity and awareness rides and helping whenever there was a need. He was a devoted member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, NY Chapter 19-1. Most important to many, he will be remembered by the way his brown eyes sparkled when he put on his red suit and became Santa Claus. At times, arranging special gifts to be given to those children that would not otherwise see their Christmas wishes come true. Bob will truly be missed by all who knew him.
