About the Mission:

The family of Robert E. Bedell has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his funeral services. Robert, 94 of Nassau, NY passed away May 23, 2022.

Born in Schodack, NY, Bob was a Korean War Veteran who took pride in serving his country. He entered the US Army on 13 July 1951and was trained as a Tracked Vehicle Mechanic. He was assigned to the 1660th Service battery, 176th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, and completed a 15 month tour of duty in South Korea. He was honorably discharged on 24 April 1953 at the rank of Sergeant, and for his service, was awarded the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal w/two Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.

Bob was an excellent mechanic, starting at Mutterer's Chevrolet and ending his career at United Parcel Service where he worked for 32 years. Bob was a dirt car racing fan at Lebanon Valley and a fan of several local drivers. Bob had a great sense of humor and he enjoyed joking with his colleagues. He never complained and seldom asked for help. He was a kind and loving person; a true gentle-man.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the cemetery with a flag line during the interment services. Military honors will be performed graveside by members of the Peter Andrews Castleton Memorial VFW Post 7337.
