About the Mission:

The family of Robert D. Bortell has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Robert, 66, of Spring Hill Lane, Sloansville, NY, passed away Wednesday evening, January 31st at Albany Medical Center after a very brief illness.

Born in Cobleskill, NY, Robert graduated from Schoharie High School and shortly after, enlisted in the US Air Force. He served his country as a tactical training division technician, with several achievements both overseas and stateside. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and, upon his honorable discharge in 1983, Bob returned to his native Schoharie County seeking employment throughout the area before landing a job at Golub Corporation in Rotterdam where he drove tractor-trailer for many years delivering to stores across the northeast. His final years at Golub were spent as a dispatch supervisor until his retirement in 2019.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the dignified transfer.  Members will escort to Sloansville Valley Cemetery, Route 30A, for interment with military honors.
