About the Mission:

The family of Richard T. Meron has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services.  Richard, 79, passed on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Saratoga Hospital.

Born in Newport, RI, after a brief residence in Schoharie, NY, he grew up in Raymertown, NY. Graduating from Tamarac High School in 1963, he joined the US Navy in December of that year.  He served honorably until his discharge on 29 February 1968, including time aboard the USS Austin, (LPD-4), an amphibious transport dock ship based out of Norfolk, VA. He was discharged at the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class, with a rating of Aviation Boatsman’s mate.

Following his discharge, Richard worked for American Airlines as a Fleet Service Clerk in Albany, NY. After 34 years, he retired in 2002, then worked part-time as a driver for Manheim Auto Auction in Clifton Park for over 20 years.
