About the Mission:

The family of Richard L. Shoemaker has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Richard, 78, of Cotton Hill Road, passed away Sunday, June 4th at the Albany Medical Center after a long illness.

Born in Schenectady, NY, Richard attended the Clinton School in Schenectady, and later earned his GED through the military. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1962 and served his country during Vietnam, transporting explosives as a motor vehicle operator. Upon his honorable discharge as Lance Corporal in 1966, Richard settled in the Schoharie County area and began working at General Electric Company as a machine lathe operator in Large Turbine, building 273. He was a proud member of the NRA and the VFW post in Albany.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the dignified transfer. Escort to Saratoga National Cemetery to follow, with KSU at 11:15 sharp.
