About the Mission:
The family of Philip Edward Benner, Jr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Philip, 90, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024.
Born and raised in Schenectady, New York, Philip enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, on 15 April 1953. He was trained as a Jet Engine Mechanic (AFSC 43250) and served for 3 years and 9 months, including an assignment to Headquarters, 93rd Bomb Wing, 329th Bomb Wing Squadron (Strategic Air Command) at Castle Air Force Base, California. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Airman 1st Class and for his service, was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
His obituary reads in part; "A man of many talents, Phil's professional life was as diverse as it was distinguished. For over two decades, he owned the Texaco Gas Station on Route 7. His dedication to community safety led him to serve with the Schenectady Sheriff’s Department before entering the Glenville Police Department, where he was among the first officers to serve in the newly established force."

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line during the last hour of Visitation, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00, with KSU by 12:45 for escort to Memory Gardens, 983 Watervliet Shaker Road, Colonie, NY 12205 for interment with military honors.
