About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders have been requested by the family of Paul Hayes to participate in his military honors funeral services. Paul, 74, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Albany Medical Cente.

Born in Granville, NY, Paul entered the United States Army on 25 April 1968.  He served 1 year and 7 months on active duty, including a 1 year tour of duty at Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam.  He was released from active duty on 28 November 1969, and honorably discharged as a Specialist 4th Class on 24 April 1974, after completing 4 years of inactive Reserve duty.  For his service, he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter Badge (M-14) and 2 Overseas Service Bars.

After his service, Paul was employed by several flooring business in the area including Bi-Lo Carpet and Floormasters. In addition, he was extremely dedicated to the VFW Post 6196 in Queensbury, and could often be found there helping out to maintain the building and seeing friends.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

We will stand flag line for the arrival of family and friends until 12:00 pm, then stand down for a short service at the funeral home. After the service, we will escort to St. Joseph's Cemetery in Fort Edward for interment with military honors.
